#HHA2017 – Highlighting the importance of Heritage

Below you can find the full text of the piece from David Watt talking about the importance of heritage - an area highlighted in 2017 which is designated the year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. This piece was published in The Scotsman on March 7th 2017 **** The history of Scotland is undoubtedly rich and complex. From the earliest Stone Age hunter gatherers of 12,000 BC, to the arrival of Roman legions in AD 71 and the Viking invasions from AD 793, early Scottish life underwent rapid change. Film Rolling – Sound Speed – Story telling time!

After the first course in Edinburgh there have been another two In Focus: Storytelling using Media sessions, Aberdeen and Glasgow. The feedback from participants has been great - and there is already talk from several projects about putting new skills into action and making their films in the next few months. I can't wait to see the finished pieces! A short film is a great visual interpretation of your case for support.  You can show people the difference you make to individuals and communities. Once upon a time – RSH Storytelling courses start

Last Tuesday saw our very first In Focus: Storytelling using Media training session, run by Media Education. The session pictured was held in Edinburgh, with other sessions about to launch in Aberdeen and Glasgow. Designed for those with little or no experience the full day workshop gives everyone a chance to be hands-on with filming, sound recording and also to understand the principles of editing. We learnt about sound, light, shot selection and ...

This detail is set within the current funding landscape in Scotland - and gets participants to consider their plans and projects from both an applicant and a funder's view point. At this session individual 'Surgeries' with the trainer were also available for the first time, this was a great opportunity for ...

Planning to Progress – Argyll & Bute

Resourcing Scotland's Heritage were lucky enough to visit Oban on a sparkling sunny Autumn day for Planning to Progress training. The mood of the room matched the weather, with engaged participants learning how to pitch their project to prospective funders and, most importantly, to have a strong, strategic, fundraising strategy - so they can best direct their energies and resources.   Training was delivered by project partners Greenspace Scotland and Peter Thierfeld with attendees from South Kintyre Development Trust, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the Oban Communities Trust. Each organisation worked to develop their ...
